Joseph Juran has explained his model of quality improvement on the basis of the basis of three universal processes which have been popularly named a Juran Trilogy.
The processes are:
- Quality Planning
- Quality Control
- Quality Improvement
Quality planning — the process for preparing to meet quality goals
- Establish Quality Goals
- Identify Who customers are
- Determine the needs of the customers
- Develop processes able to produce the product features
- Develop product features that respond to customers needs
- Establish process controls
- transfer the plans to the operating forces
Quality control — the process for meeting quality goals during operations.
- Evaluate actual performance
- Compare actual performance with quality goals
- Act on the difference
Quality improvement — the process for breaking through to unprecedented levels of performance.
- Prove the need Establish the infrastructure
- Identify the improvement projects
- Establish project teams
- Provide the teams with resources, training, and motivation to:
- Diagnose the causes Stimulate remedies
- Establish controls to hold the gains
Quality means those features of products which meet customer needs and there by provide customer satisfaction
